Description

Anubias barteri is a highly adaptable and popular aquatic plant native to West Africa, where it grows along riverbanks and streams, often submerged or semi-submerged. Planting and Care

Unlike many other aquatic plants, Anubias barteri should not be planted directly into the substrate. Its rhizome, the horizontal stem from which leaves and roots grow, must be kept above the substrate to prevent rot. It is best attached to driftwood or rocks using fishing line or super glue until its roots firmly anchor it. This plant thrives in low to medium light conditions; too much light can encourage algae growth on its slow-growing leaves. CO2 supplementation is not essential but can promote slightly faster and more robust growth. Regular fertilization, particularly with liquid fertilizers, will support its health.
