Cultivation and Care
This plant is remarkably undemanding and will thrive in a wide range of water parameters. It prefers a nutrient-rich substrate, which supports its root system and encourages steady growth. While it can tolerate low light levels, slightly higher lighting can intensify the reddish hues in its leaves. It is generally stable once established and rarely requires frequent pruning.
Propagation
Propagation is achieved primarily through the formation of runners. The plant will naturally produce offshoots from its base, which can be carefully separated from the parent plant once they have developed a small root system. These can then be replanted directly into the substrate in other areas of the aquarium.
Aquascaping Notes
Due to its moderate height and dense growth habit, it works perfectly as a focal point in smaller tanks or as a transition plant in larger layouts. It is known to be relatively hardy, though, like many Cryptocoryne species, it may experience a period of melting when first introduced to a new environment while it adjusts to the water chemistry.
