Introduction to Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia
Anubias barteri var. caladiifolia is a beautiful and highly resilient plant characterized by its distinct, large heart-shaped leaves. It is a fantastic choice for aquarists looking to add lush, dark green foliage to their aquariums without the need for high-maintenance setups.
Planting and Care
Like other Anubias species, it thrives when attached to hardscape materials such as rocks or driftwood. Burying the rhizome in the substrate will cause it to rot, so it should always be tied, glued, or wedged onto a surface. It grows slowly but steadily, requiring minimal light and CO2, making it an incredibly forgiving plant.
Aquascaping Application
Due to its larger size compared to the common 'Nana' variety, it serves excellently as a midground or background feature in larger tanks, or as a striking centerpiece in smaller setups. Its tough, leathery leaves are also highly resistant to herbivorous fish, making it a staple in Cichlid or Goldfish aquariums.
