Introduction
Anubias barteri 'Coin Leaf' is an attractive and hardy variant of the popular Anubias family, notable for its distinctively round leaves that resemble small coins. It adds a beautiful, rich green contrast to any planted aquarium, offering a unique texture compared to standard Anubias varieties.
Planting and Care
Like other Anubias species, 'Coin Leaf' is a true epiphyte. Its fleshy rhizome should never be buried in the substrate, as this will lead to rotting and plant death. Instead, it thrives when attached to hardscape materials such as driftwood or rocks. You can secure it using cotton thread, fishing line, or aquarium-safe cyanoacrylate glue until its roots naturally anchor to the surface.
Growth and Maintenance
This plant features a very slow growth rate, making it incredibly easy to maintain. Because of its slow growth, it can be susceptible to green spot algae if exposed to high intensity lighting. Keeping it in shaded areas, beneath taller stem plants, or in low-light setups ensures pristine, dark green foliage. It does not require CO2 injection, though it will benefit slightly from it.
