Description
Shinnersia rivularis 'Weiss-Grün', commonly known as the variegated Mexican Oak Leaf, is a beautiful and exceptionally fast-growing stem plant. A mutation discovered and stabilized in a plant nursery led to this unique cultivar, which is characterized by its striking white veins that contrast beautifully against its light green leaves. The deeply lobed leaf shape resembles that of an oak tree, providing a unique texture to the planted aquarium.

Cultivation & Care
This plant is highly adaptable and considered very easy to grow, making it an excellent choice for beginners. It thrives in a wide range of water parameters and temperatures. While it does not require CO2 injection, supplementation will accelerate its already rapid growth. Moderate to high lighting will help maintain the intense white coloration of the veins. Because of its fast growth rate, frequent pruning is necessary to prevent it from shading other plants and to encourage bushy, compact growth.
Aquascaping Application
Due to its potential to reach the water surface quickly, Shinnersia rivularis 'Weiss-Grün' is best utilized in the background of the aquarium. Its bright, variegated leaves naturally draw the eye, making it an excellent focal point or contrasting element against darker green or red aquatic plants. When planted in dense groups, it creates a lush, highly textured backdrop that adds depth and brightness to the aquascape.
