Introduction to Schismatoglottis prietoi
Schismatoglottis prietoi was discovered in the Philippines and has quickly become a favorite in the aquascaping hobby. It is often compared to Anubias due to its similar leaf shape and robust nature, but it grows faster and is typically planted directly into the substrate rather than attached to hardscape.

Care and Maintenance
This plant is incredibly undemanding, making it perfect for beginners. It thrives in a wide range of water parameters and does not require intense lighting or CO2 injection, though it will grow more vigorously with them. It propagates readily through runners in the substrate, quickly forming a dense, lush green bush in the foreground to middleground of the aquarium.
Aquascaping Uses
With its bright green, elliptical leaves, Schismatoglottis prietoi provides a beautiful contrast to darker or red plants. It is best utilized in the foreground or middleground, where its creeping rhizomes can spread and create a natural, wild look. Unlike epiphytes, it prefers its roots in a nutrient-rich substrate, making it an excellent filler plant for transitioning zones.
