Introduction
Cryptocoryne undulata 'Broad Leaf' is a beautiful rosette plant originating from Asia, specifically the shaded streams and rivers of Sri Lanka. As a variant of the standard C. undulata, it is distinguished by its wider, more robust leaves that display a rich green color with attractive reddish-brown stems and undersides.
Care and Maintenance
This plant is highly adaptable and is classified as an 'easy' plant, perfect for beginners. It requires low to medium light and does not strictly need supplemental CO2, though it will grow faster and fuller with it. Like many Cryptocorynes, it prefers a nutrient-rich substrate to establish its extensive root system.
Aquascaping Usage
With a typical height of 15 to 20 cm, Cryptocoryne undulata 'Broad Leaf' is ideally suited for the middleground of the aquarium. Its broad leaves provide excellent contrast against fine-leaved stem plants and offer natural hiding spaces for shrimp and small aquatic life.
