[TheStoriesOfTop7] Memories - Ngo Truong Thinh / VietNam - IAPLC 2017

7th place (Bronze Prize) in the world ranking is Mr. Truong Thinh Ngo (Vietnam) with his "Memories". Mr. Ngo is a regular top-prize winner whose achievements in the contest over years are praiseworthy. His entry, "Memories", features the combination of large stones, which is apt to impart an oppressive impression, but the clusters of stem plants adequately soften its expression in a perfect balance. In addi- tion, the stone arrangement looks very steady, giving its viewers a sense of serenity. Photograph is also skillful; it was intentionally avoided ripples forming on the water surface, but effectively took advantage of reflected images of stem plants. This is one of the elements that make the entry so fascinating. Everything about the entry, from the layout composition to photographic visualization, is thoroughly calculated without error, and it is indeed his "style" in the recent contests. However, after looking at his last year's entry (16th in the 2016 World Ranking), we regret to say that the style is becoming rather conventional. This may be a new challenge for him. "Memories" placed 7th and was evaluated fairly equally by all judges because it is a high-quality work overall without major negative factors

My work this year is inspired by nature and greatly influenced by impressionist, Son Doong Cave that obviously left a pretty strong impression in my memory so I called my work "Memories". My aquascape layout, the main theme is rocks that I put continually from left to right side to create panoramic view of Son Doong Caves. The background, I use Rotala, my favorite aquatic plant that has bright colors to balance out the heavier elements such as rock in my tank. Shadows of aquatic plant reflected on water surface also shimmer in a strange underwater landscape. In gen- eral, I have crate layout style that combines the two styles, the traditional Iwagumi and modern aquatic layout trends. My point of view, the IAPLC contest has brought the aquascapers from around the world closer to one another. And their friendship gives me the motivation to move through the next IAPLC. I would like to thank you to the IAPLC committee, thanks to the judges for their hard work and time. Once again I would like to thank all my friends all over the world for giving me good feelings.
