Today, AquaLibs introduces AquaRank—an independent platform designed to connect those published competition records and present the competitive careers of aquascapers in one accessible place.
More than a single contest leaderboard
AquaRank currently brings together more than 46,000 published results from 73 editions of six international aquascaping competitions:
- IAPLC
- AGA
- IIAC
- KIAC
- CIAC
- ITAC
Each competition has its own history, result format and award system. Some publish complete world rankings, while others announce medals, ribbons, Top 10 groups or selected winning works.
AquaRank preserves those differences. Entry numbers are never treated as ranks, unordered award groups are not given invented positions, and category results are not counted twice as overall results.
How AquaRank works
AquaRank follows three main steps.
First, published rankings and official award groups are collected while retaining their competition, year and source context.
Second, results from different years and competitions are connected to a consistent aquascaper identity. This helps account for changes in name order, spelling, transliteration and country formatting without modifying the original published name.
Finally, versioned scoring rules are applied according to the competition and period. Career rankings give greater importance to an aquascaper’s strongest results while still recognising consistent achievement across multiple years.

Each profile may include:
- Career score and current world position
- Results across multiple competitions
- Competition-specific rankings
- Career timeline
- Published awards and placements
- A gallery using locally archived contest images where available
The Top 100 updates automatically when new contests are added or rankings are recalculated.
Independent data and explainable scores
AquaRank is an independent editorial and data project developed by AquaLibs. It is not an official ranking issued by, or a substitute for, any individual contest organizer.
Competition names and published results remain attributable to their respective publishers. AquaRank scores are intended to compare documented competition records; they do not define the artistic value of an aquascaper or aquascape.
Scoring rules are versioned rather than silently rewritten. Source results remain separate from identity corrections, allowing ranking changes to be reviewed and explained.
