Overview
Najas guadalupensis, commonly referred to as Guppy Grass, Najas Grass, or Water Nymph, is an incredibly adaptable aquatic plant. It is renowned for its rapid growth and delicate, light green foliage. As its name suggests, it is a favorite among fish breeders because it creates dense thickets that offer perfect refuge for fry, shrimp, and shy fish.

Care and Maintenance
Guppy Grass is one of the easiest plants to keep in the aquarium hobby. It can be planted directly into the substrate or left to float freely in the water column, drawing nutrients directly from the water. It requires very low light and does not need supplemental CO2, although adding nutrients will cause it to grow explosively. Regular trimming is often necessary to prevent it from outcompeting other plants for light and space.
Aquascaping Application
While not typically used as a focal point in high-end aquascapes due to its somewhat wild and messy growth habit, it is an excellent background plant or floating cover in breeding tanks, low-tech setups, and natural-style aquariums. Its bright light green coloration provides a beautiful contrast against darker hardscape materials and colorful aquatic inhabitants.
