Introduction
Rotala rotundifolia "Blood Red" is an exceptional variant of the classic Rotala rotundifolia, prized for its ability to develop a striking, solid red coloration. Originating from Asia, it has quickly gained popularity in the aquascaping hobby for creating vibrant, fiery background bushes.

Care and Requirements
While standard Rotala rotundifolia is relatively undemanding, the "Blood Red" variant requires high lighting and supplemental CO2 injection to truly showcase its namesake coloration. Under lower light, the plant will still grow but may revert to an orange or greenish hue. Regular dosing of iron and micronutrients is also highly recommended to support the intense pigmentation and robust growth.
Aquascaping Application
This stem plant is best utilized in the background of planted aquariums. By planting multiple stems in a dense group, aquascapers can create a stunning red focal point that contrasts beautifully against bright green foreground and midground plants. Frequent trimming will encourage lateral shoots, resulting in a thick, bushy appearance that adds immense depth to the aquascape.
