Singapore may be a tiny little country in the world map, with a population of merely 5 millions. But they are not a small country at all in the world aquascaping map!! In the last 7-8 years, you could see scapers from this 'small' country in the top27 or even top7 almost every year! That is quite an achievement for such a 'small' country!
One interesting facts about Singapore aquascaping scene, is the emergence of their current top scaper! If you are familiar with the IAPLC history of Singapore, you will know that the top3 all time best individual ranking from Singapore are coming in the most recent 3 years by the same scaper. This, to a certain extend, has contributed to the positive trend in the average ranking for Singapore in recent years as they registered their first ever 2-digits average ranking in 2018, as a result, they are in the top10 country list! All this is not an coincident by all means.
Singapore aquascaping style, is a mixture of NA and some fusion forest style. One thing we observed though, is the "bold" attempt in most of Singapore top layouts in recent years. "Bold" here means....they are aiming for the top honours, "competition layout" as some might call it, it is not a layout made just to please the passer-by, the intention is clear.

Strength and weakness
Strength: they have 2 world class scapers that are capable of achieving any ranking that is achievable by human.
Weakness: they only have 2 (for now).
As the Nations Challenge is a team event, Singapore will need to find their 3rd - 5th team members who can consistently contribute to this cause. With their 2 top scapers, it is entirely possible to see the name of Singapore appears in the top27 or top7 individual ranking, but as a nation in the team battle, it may be quite challenging if they only depends on individual heroic of their 2 top scapers. We notice big improvement in 2018 from their 3rd-5th scapers, but we will see if this is sustainable.
The recent appointment of a new ADA distributorship in Singapore that is more aggressive and proactive in promoting aquascaping could be another key to the future of Singapore aquascaping. Let's see!!
