Regarding the work, I drew my attention to the large driftwood and shadow below it on the left, and I wanted to express the naturalness in the form of radiating on the right. There are only a few species of water plants used, but I wanted to look as natural as possible. I couldn't find a suitable background to plant next to the vanishing point, so I planted hair glasses, which are foreground plants, and I think it was a good choice for me personally. Lastly, thank you so much for holding a contest

IIAC 2023 World Ranking Announcement - World Ranking 015 - Winning Work

Comments from Frederic Fuss

A very natural-looking depiction of a river bed with elegant driftwood. The natural and peaceful atmosphere is complemented by a bold design with an interesting implementation. The focus points are well documented, different things happen there. One gets the impression of being in front of some kind of elevation or hill. The vanishing point seems to be most likely located at the upper right focus point, which would mean it would be below the visible horizon. The individual parts of the layout fit together perfectly, only the upper, slightly rising part of the driftwood bothered me a bit. Although it brings variety to the very classic design, I find it a bit too obtrusive and therefore too much for my taste. I also had to struggle with the selection of the dragon stones, although their color complement is extremely desirable, at the same time, in my opinion, they do not optimally suit an overall very natural representation of a river bed. The fish are well placed but unfortunately they swim in different directions and towards each other. All in all, a work that I really liked at first glance. On second inspection, I noticed things that I thought were worthy of criticism. That doesn't stop me from paying my respects to you and congratulating you on this very nice work!

  • Resilience - IIAC 2023 #01 Juan Puchades / Spain

Resilience is a project that was born thanks to a trip to Vivarium in the Netherlands. There I found a piece of wood that had multiple virtues: dynamism, uniqueness, natural beauty and a considerable size. I dedicated many hours to find similar pieces that could complement it. From that point on, the design had to strike the perfect balance between three elements: stone, wood and planting.
  • Curves - IIAC 2023 #02 Ant Long Tran Hoang / Vietnam

Curves is the name as well as the shape of material of my aquarium. The suitable aquatic plant shapes emphasized curves of rock also created the flow of underwater streamline too, and the flow is the main idea of this layout.
  • FALLEN - IIAC 2023 #03 Tran Duc Minh / Vietnam

In my work this year, I aim to offer viewers a different perspective that allows them to experience strength, power, and strong reflections between dark and light, near and far, big and small, without deviating from the beauty of nature. In addition to taking meticulous care of the vanishing point, I utilized all the remaining space in the aquarium. Regarding the plants, I have tried to take care of them so that they are in the best growing conditions. Lastly, I am grateful and thankful to the IIAC Steering Committee and the judges for recognizing my work.
  • Evergreen Valley - IIAC 2023 #04 Bahtiar Gigi / Indonesia

I was inspired by my city, the city of Depok, which has lots of caves in its rivers, and lots of very lush trees. And finally I made a middle cave in the aquarium.

About mangkol, inspired by a small forest on Mangkol Hill, simple but meaningful, it is not easy to make it as similar as possible, but this indicates that nature is a source of inspiration for aquascaping
