"Dream" represent a transformation in my aquascaping style over the last 12 years. I was making complicated forest layout for the major part of my aquascaping journey and sophisticated forest is also the style that brought me "fame". 

But I have shifted my aquascaping approach last year away from typical forest, using much simpler structure and creating higher impact in my work. This year, I tried to use my new approach and combine it with the forest style, "Dream" is the result of this combination - a forest layout with simple structure and high impact. I hope you like it.

The most outstanding work in this year's contest. Impressive hardscape and excellent maintenance with water plants combine with harmony. This tank has been taken with good care for a while, the overall layout is with multi-level on the structure and color tone. Micranthemum sp "Monte carlo" is an excellent choice, the final touch of this tank. The reflection on the right side leaves a blank space. does it have any special meaning or other reasons? An interesting decision. On the animal selection, perhaps try to use fishes with brighter color like Melanotaenia boesemani, maybe can make this work even better!

Beautiful tank with high completeness, selection and arrangement of plants are very nature, mature skills. The hardscape is also well-organized, and the layout is in nice balance.

Bold arrangement on the driftwood, recreate the natural feeling. Woods and the white space at the background create contrast, brings out the visual effect of under-river. Using plants with different leaf shape is also very unique, pleasant arrangement. This work shows high level on hardscape structure and water plant selection. It's a masterpiece.

  • AGA 2016 World Ranking Announcement

    The Aquatic Gardeners Association is pleased to announce the results for the 2016 International Aquascaping Contest. We had another outstanding year and came close to achieving another record for entries, with more than 500 aquascapes submitted to this year’s contest. Nearly all of the categories in this year’s contest had record participation and some outstanding biotopes, paludariums, and Dutch aquascapes were also submitted.

We had another outstanding year with almost 600 different aquascapes entered in the various categories, including our newest Wabi-Kusa category. We had outstanding showings in the 60L-120L and the 120L-200L category, from where our Best of Show and Larry Lampert Most Innovative awards were chosen, but all the other categories were also well represented!
